Beacon Hill is regarded as being one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Massachusetts. The area was named after the location of a former beacon, which was at the highest point in Boston. Although the landmark was originally used to warn residents of invasion, today it serves as an archival piece of history.
Beacon Hill is filled with brick rowhouses and is renowned for its charming, gas-lit streets and gorgeous brick sidewalks. Charles Street runs along the flat of the hill and is peppered with mom and pop owned restaurants, shops and cafes. The central location of Beacon Hill lies between the Boston Common and borders the Esplanade on the Charles River where recreational activity is at your fingertips.
